ECCE STUDENTS AT NDU WIN TWO AWARDS DURING LIRA 13TH FORUM

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering (ECCE) at the Faculty of Engineering (FE), Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), won two awards during the Lira 13th Forum, which was held between December 14 and 16, 2017, at the Dbayeh Convention Center. The Lira Program aims at building effective collaboration between industry and academia to address industry research and development needs.

ECCE students Yara Chaaban, Elio Hanna, Ryan Ghoche, and George Hanna won the “BeryTech Incubation and Business Support Prize;” a Smart Irrigation System project called “Nerdy Irrigation System.” This prize provides an 18-month long logistics, hosting, coaching and mentoring, and trainings and workshops supervised by Eng. Nisrine el-Turky (ECCE) in order to enhance the project adopted.

Electrical Engineering student Christina Chaccour and Mechanical Engineering student Rawad Himo, both from NDU, won second prize (cash) in the “Mechatronics” division; a seed sowing robot called “AgroRobot.” Dr. Mustapha Hamad, Dr. Najib Metni, and Eng. El-Turky supervised this project.

Congratulations to the Department of ECCE on this win! We are proud to have such hardworking students and a strong faculty board whose members are constantly willing to participate in such competitions and forums for the sake of reflecting to the outside world the good image of NDU.

We would also like to thank Sheikh Saïd Hamadeh and Fabienne Ibrahim Balaa as well as all the jury members and industrialists.
