HUNGARIAN SCHOLARSHIP TO NDU STUDENTS

The crushing grip of the current crises left no institution or individual in Lebanon unaffected. The last months saw many Lebanese leave the country, seeking a better, more stable future.

In an effort to reinforce its support to students, Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) joined forces with Hungary Helps Agency to launch a named scholarship, dedicated to support students in need, thus enabling them to continue their education.

“This donation comes at a critical time,” said NDU President, Fr. Bechara Khoury, who highlighted the great need for support for NDU students. Education is the door to a financially sustainable future, and the crises have largely threatened the students’ choices that can have a devastating lifelong impact.” Fr. Khoury thanked the Hungary Helps Agency for their genuine response and willingness to support the NDU students.

His Excellency Tristan Azbej, State Secretary in charge of assistance to persecuted Christians and the Hungary Helps Program stated that “Christian churches and institutions are playing a crucial role in preserving the unity of Lebanon. Their communities form an irreplaceable and powerful component of society enriching not only their homeland but also the whole of Christian civilization through their presence and faithful testimony. As a result, the Hungary Helps Program is supporting students from Notre Dame University-Louaize, for them to utilize their knowledge in their home countries after graduation thus contributing to the strengthening of local communities. The Hungary Helps Program has enabled more than half a million people worldwide to remain and succeed in their homelands instead of having to resort to migration”.

With the mission of efficiently providing help in response to local community needs, the Hungary Helps Agency has supported Education in Lebanon as well as other countries like Syria, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Armenia. Such efforts are done in partnership with local Faith-Based and Non-Governmental Organizations.

The values set by the Hungary Helps Agency are strongly aligned with NDU’s mission to provide comprehensive quality education that fosters excellence in scholarship, lifelong learning, enlightened citizenship, human solidarity, moral integrity, and belief in God.
