NDU HOSTS PROFESSORS FROM UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM NINGBO CHINA

February 19-22, 2019 – The Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts & Design (RC-FAAD) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) hosted two professors from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC): Dr. Ali Cheshmehzangi, Head of Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design, Engineering, the UNNC Strategic Regional Representative for Africa and the Middle East and Academic Director of Nottingham Advantage Award (NAA), and Dr. Wu Deng, Certified German Passive House Designer, and Assistant Professor of Architecture and Built Environment. This visit came after signing the Memorandum of Understanding in November/ December 2018 between the two universities and as initiated by RC-FAAD Department of Architecture.

During their visit, Dr. Cheshmehzangi and Dr. Deng met with NDU faculty including the Dean of RC-FAAD, Associate Professor Dr. Jean-Pierre El Asmar and the Chairperson of the Department of Architecture and Department of Music - RC FAAD, Assistant Professor Dr. Christine Mady. Dr. Cheshmehzangi held a lecture on architecture, urban design and sustainability attended by senior project students and Architectural Design VI students. Both visitors attended the senior project studio, and passed by three design studios before their departure.

Speaking on the visit, Dr. Mady said: “It was a fruitful visit, where future collaborations between the Departments of Architecture in terms of faculty and student exchange were discussed.”

Maintaining strong ties with international partners through visits like these helps establish NDU’s position and active presence on the world stage.
