NDU’S PETROLEUM ENGINEERING PROFESSOR DACUN LI VISITS BEIJING

Petroleum Engineering Professor at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) Dr. Dacun Li gave a presentation on September 17, 2018, titled, “Streamline-Based EOR Simulations,” at Peking University, the second highest-ranked university in China. Dr. Li’s presentation covered motivations, streamline methodology, and examples of waterflood and gas injection. In the presentation, he proposed and illustrated a practical method to use large time steps.  Dean of Engineering at Peking University Dr. Dongxiao Zhang met with Dr. Li, who, along with students and other professors, attended the presentation.

Dr. Li attended from September 18 to 22, 2018, the Training for the Overseas Committee Members of Entrepreneur Alliance of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (AFROC) at Tsinghua University, the highest-ranked university in China. This was the first training for overseas committee members since the establishment of Entrepreneur Alliance in 2016. AFROC Chairman Lijun Wan and Vice-Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council Yibing Li, attended the opening ceremony, chaired by AFROC Vice-Secretary Hongying Zhao; both gave speeches. Chairman Wan said that coming to study at Tsinghua, the sacred hall, was a great honor and he encouraged committee members to study hard. Vice-Chairperson Li said, “When you come to study at Tsinghua, you become alumni. When you leave Tsinghua, you take with you the Tsinghua Spirit.”  They all met with Dr. Li immediately following the opening ceremony. He earned a “Certificate of Completion,” following five days of intense study. More than 30 overseas committee members from 21 countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, attended the training. All the overseas committee members have Chinese origins.
