ONLINE SHOPPING IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

The Department of Media Studies (DMS) at the Faculty of Humanities (FH), Notre Dame University- Louaize (NDU), organized on February 28, 2018, for its students a seminar titled, “Online Shopping in the Era of Digital Transformation,” presented by Co-Founder and CEO of HiCart.com George Azar.

This seminar began with the HiCart team time lining the global, regional, and local evolution of online shopping and explaining how the online trend has impacted the brick-and-mortar business.

Segment one covered industry-adopted approaches to deal with the rise in Multi-channeling and Omni-channeling. Azar went on to describe the birth of HiCart.com, as an online shopping platform combining multiple brands in one diversified website.

In segment two, Azar focused on the statement: "only those who dare to fail can succeed greatly." He elaborated on the many challenges HiCart faced as an online shopping platform. HiCart team member Doueihi took over briefly to discuss the different tactics used to overcome those challenges and the lessons learned in the process.

In the last segment, students were divided into groups and were asked to develop a communication plan to launch the HiCart mobile application. The ideas presented were based on sound concepts and spot-on analyses that focused on the target audience's media consumption habits and interests.

At the session’s end, Azar said, "This is the User Experience (UX) era and brands have to be consumer-centric to survive. It's only when you place yourself in the consumer's shoes that you will be able to deliver the most relevant content, at the best time, in the best way, and using the best medium."
