Antoine Aoun
Antoine Aoun, MD, currently holds positions as an Associate Professor, University Physician, and Director of COPTER (Center for Obesity Prevention Treatment Education and Research) at Notre Dame University (accredited by NECHE). Dr. Aoun recently embarked on a leave of absence to contribute his expertise to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Rouen and Hopital La Musse Saint Sebastien de Morsent in Normandy, France, where he expanded his knowledge in the prevention and advanced treatment of obesity. During his tenure, he chaired the blue-ribbon committee responsible for establishing a Faculty of Medicine at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) and spearheaded the multidisciplinary obesity team at Hopital La Musse in Normandy. Dr. Aoun has been the primary and/or corresponding author of over 40 peer-reviewed publications.
Prior to his current roles, Dr. Aoun graduated as the valedictorian of his high school class in 1994. He received the 'Best Abstract' award at the ESPEN Congress in 2010 and the ‘Best Poster’ award at the WONCA Europe Congress in 2017. He completed his specialty in Family Medicine and obtained a diploma in Medical Ethics at Saint Joseph University in Beirut. In 2010, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor (Maitre de Conference) at the School of Medicine before joining NDU in 2013. Dr. Aoun holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition from Rouen University, a Diploma in Obesity Management from Pitié Salpêtrière University, and a Diploma in Malnutrition Management from René Descartes University in France. Additionally, he completed a Clinical Nutrition Fellowship at Rouen University Hospital and pursued advanced medical courses at Harvard and Stanford Universities. His primary research interests include eating behaviors and nutritional supplementation.
Dr. Aoun served as the medical advisor for ‘Mission de Vie’ from 2006 to 2021, actively participated in numerous relevant regional and international congresses, practiced Family Medicine and Clinical Nutrition, and primarily instructed medical students and post-graduate nutrition students.
