Pharmaceutical Chemistry - CHM 427
This course explores in depth
the synthesis of pharmaceutically important
molecules such as antibiotics, cardiovascular,
anti-inflammatory, chemotherapeutic agents
and more. Special attention is placed
on the strategy and tactics in synthesis
and reaction mechanisms. Real case
studies of process development of drug
substances in pharmaceutical industry will
be illustrated to show the problems which
may be encountered in scaling up chemical
synthesis and the ways these problems may
be overcome. Prerequisite: CHM 425.
