Drug Design and Action - CHM 428
This course will give an overview
of how drugs are designed and function
to help synthetic chemists improve their
understanding of drug chemistry. It covers
stages of drug discovery process, drug-target interactions, pharmacological
properties in drug design, elucidation of
mechanism of action of drugs, description of
routes for the delivery of drugs in the human
body, chemical aspects of drug metabolism
and the concept of pro-drugs. Prerequisites:
CHM 222 and CHM 335 or BIO 227.
