Organic Identification and Structure - CHM 331
This course studies
the theoretical and practical aspects of the
separation, purification and identification of
organic compounds. The identification of pure
compounds and of components of mixtures
of organic compounds is accomplished
by chemical and spectral methods and/
or synthesis of derivatives. It covers the
theory of NMR (including two-dimensional
proton), infrared and mass spectrometry
with emphasis on spectral interpretation
skills needed for the elucidation of structure.
Prerequisites: CHM 222, CHM 272.
