This course will examine how Arab women have articulated and expressed their subjectivity, responded to cultural, social, political and familial demands, and created a literary and feminist aesthetic. Authors include Naomi Shihab Nye, Ahdaf Soueif, Evelyne Accad, Etel Adnan, Margot Badran, Fadia Faqir, and Diana Abu-Jaber.
