In this course students will be introduced to local, regional, and international events and issues that are affecting the world today. The role and responsibility of the world citizen will be emphasized as the class conducts research on, develops understanding of, and examines the coverage given by the media, to various issues. Class discussions and presentations of various political, economic, and social issues constitute a sizable bulk of the course’s material. Topics may include: Globalization, Environmental concerns, Terrorism, Nuclear Proliferation, World hunger, drugs, the relationship between developing countries and developed countries.
