This course stresses theory in relation to the form, effects, production, and content of mass media. The theories covered in the course help guide graduate Courses: Media Studies student’s comprehension and inquiry into the role that mass media play in society. Each theory covered offers a number of assumptions about the media, society, and the individual, while describing how these elements interact and shape each other. The course provides students with theoretical foundations that would guide research and comprehension of new theoretical contributions and future developments in theory.
