Andrew Kerim Arsan, PhD

Dr. Andrew Arsan is a political, cultural, and intellectual historian of the Arabic-speaking Eastern Mediterranean, with a particular interest in Lebanon and the Lebanese diaspora. He has taught at Birkbeck, University of London, and the University of Cambridge. He has a PhD in History from Cambridge University. He has published several articles and chapters especially on Lebanese migration in French West Africa. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University in the USA. He is at work on three books:

A Faded Spring: Contemporary Lebanon (London and New York: Hurst and Columbia
University Press, under contract, to be submitted January 2012).

A People in Movement: A Global History of the Lebanese Diaspora (London and New York:
Hurst and Columbia University Press, under contract, to be submitted January 2013).

A Diaspora of Empire: Lebanese Migrants in French West Africa and the Colonial Order of Things (monograph completed, to be submitted to publishers).
