Overview:

The Department of Design is introducing the latest Graphic Design discipline in 2024. This initiative aims to familiarize the younger generation with the Graphic Design camp offered at FAAD.


Daily Schedule:

Start Time: 9:00 AM

End Time: 1:00 PM


Suggested Program:

Day 1:

"The Design Spark," begins at 9:00 AM with a welcome and icebreaker activity for introductions, followed by a session from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM on uncovering the essence of graphic design, including its definition, application in daily life, and potential career paths within the field.

 

A break from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM

 

The main segment from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, will focus on navigating design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite tools like Photoshop and Illustrator, covering basic functionalities, collaborative design creation, the influence of technology on design practices, and emerging industry trends.

 

The day concludes with a Q&A session and wrap-up discussions from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM


Day 2:
"Design Fundamentals," commences at 9:00 AM with a brief recap and a warm-up activity. From 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM, participants delve into a Layout and Composition Bootcamp, where they explore design principles in action, learn techniques for crafting visually appealing layouts, delve into typography rules and best practices, and experiment with different typefaces and fonts.

 

A break from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM

 

The session resumes from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 PM, focusing on "Color Your World." This segment entails understanding color psychology, exploring the relationship between mood and emotions with color, and learning to design based on color themes.

 

The day concludes with a Q&A session and wrap-up discussions from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, allowing participants to clarify concepts and consolidate their learning.

Day 3:

"Project Runway and Design Showcase," activities kick off at 9:00 a.m. with a recap and brainstorming session to finalize the design project. From 9:15 AM to 11:30 AM, participants engage in a guided team-based design project, involving collaborative brainstorming, sketching, and execution, with opportunities for peer feedback and consultations.

 

The day's main event occurs from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, featuring a design showcase and feedback session, where participants present their projects and receive constructive critique. The workshop concludes with closing remarks and recognition of course completion from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.

 
Participants:

Open to school students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.


Outcome:

Interactive sessions, group projects, and Q&A opportunities ensure a comprehensive learning experience for beginners in graphic design and technology.


Trainer:

Myriam Chamoun, a part-time faculty member at the Shouf campus, is a distinguished member of ISTD. She holds two master's degrees, one in Interactive Design from IED Barcelona, Spain, where she graduated with highest distinction, and another in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media from UPF Barcelona, Spain.


Certificate of Completion:

Upon successfully completing the camp, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. 


Fees and Payment:

The fee for the camp is USD 120. Payment is required at the NDU Business Office in Shouf before July 22, 2024. This fee includes snacks, refreshments, and health insurance during camp hours. A non-refundable first payment of USD 40 is required upon registration.
