Overview:

This camp is crafted to provide a dynamic and engaging experience, introducing participants to various aspects of music and offering hands-on learning opportunities. It will help the participants learn about the elements of sound, instrumentation, orchestration, and music appreciation.  


Daily Schedule:

Suggested Program:

Day 1:

- 9:00 AM - 9:15 AM: Welcome and Introduction  
- 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM: Music Exploration: Analyzing and Reviewing Music  
- 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM: Discuss and Analyze Diverse Music Samples from Different Genres  
- 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Break  
- 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Provide a Brief Overview of Various Music Styles, Highlighting Their Distinctive Features  


Day 2:

- Instrument Focus: Exploring the Unique Sounds and Characteristics of Various Musical Instruments  
- Study of Musical Instruments  
- Break  
- Overview of Different Music Periods  


Day 3:

- Music Theory and Rhythm: Introduce Fundamental Music Theory Concepts, Ensuring Participants' Understanding and Skills in Rhythm and Solfège  
- Conduct Practical Sessions Allowing Participants to Engage with the Instruments Hands-On  
- Break  
- Training Sessions  

 

Participants:

Open to school students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.

 

Outcome:

The Summer Camp will enhance the students’ understanding of various musical genres, improve critical skills, develop a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity in music, and provide hands-on experience with different instruments.  


Trainer:

Dr. Gilbert Mouawad holds a Ph.D. in Music from USEK and a master's program in Music Education. He achieved recognition as the Winner of the National Doctoral Research Day. Currently, he is finalizing a diploma in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the American University of Beirut (AUB). Dr. Mouawad is the visionary Founder of Ecole d’Art et de Musique, a Social Enterprise, and has been serving as its Managing Director since 2008.


Certificate of Completion:

Upon successfully completing the camp, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. 


Fees and Payment:

The fee for the camp is USD 75. Payment is required at the NDU Business Office in North Lebanon before July 18, 2024, or via online payment as decided by the University. This fee includes notebooks, pens, snacks, refreshments, and health insurance coverage during camp hours. A non-refundable first payment of USD 30 is required upon registration at the NLC.
