A Notre Dame University-Louaize Model United Nations (NDU MUN) delegation of 10 students attended between March 9 and March 11, 2018, the “Future We Want Model United Nations” Conference 2018, which took place at the UNHQ in New York City (NYC), USA.
#NDUers Elie Gharios, Elio Haddad, Elise Nassif, Gebran Abou Zeid, Hicham Chalhoub, Joanne Keyrouz, Labeeb Slait, Roni Chaar, Sam Nsaif, and Steven El-Hoyek faced one of their fiercest challenges during the conference, which hosted close to 2,600 delegates from 129 countries.
This high-caliber conference demands from all delegates specific skills and full preparation. Every delegate from NDU was assigned a different country and committee composed of more than 100 delegates each, which made it all the more demanding and all the more difficult to shine. Despite the odds, however, the NDU MUN delegate, much to the pride of the University, emerged on top by clinching the following awards:
1. Elie Gharios – “Honorable Mention.”
2. Elise Nassif – “Honorable Mention.”
3. Sam Nsaif – “Position Paper Award.”
Additionally, it is important to note that NDU MUN Membership Coordinator Boutros Karam chaired the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) during the conference, and the NDU MUN Secretary-General Maryam Nsaif served as Deputy USG of Administration.
The “Honorable Mention” awards are an indication of the diplomatic prowess that our #NDUers possess, and the “Position Paper Award” proves beyond a reasonable doubt the meticulous research done by the awardee.
