Conference Policies

1. Harassment Policy

NDU MUN is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all participants. We are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere void of harassment, bullying, or discrimination. All attendees are expected to adhere to this policy with no exceptions. Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography or recording, and unwelcome physical attention. Bullying involves any unwarranted aggressive behavior intended to intimidate, humiliate, or coerce others. If you experience harassment, notice that another person is being harassed, or have any safety concerns of the sort, please contact a member of the conference staff immediately. Conference staff will be present in each committee and will be steadfast in offering their assistance and addressing the situation. Delegates violating this policy may be warned, expelled from the conference with no refund, or ultimately banned from future events, at the discretion of their Chair and conference organizers.

2. Diplomatic Conduct

All delegates are asked to uphold utmost diplomacy for the duration of the conference. Our Model United Nations program is characterized by the formality of its environment. Delegates are expected to approach all interactions with a diplomatic mindset, fostering an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and cooperation. Whether engaging in formal committee sessions or informal debates, the use of tact, courtesy, and respect is paramount. Upholding diplomacy extends beyond one's own interactions; it also involves recognizing and appreciating the diversity of perspectives and approaches within the conference. The formality of the Model United Nations program serves as one of its pillars. Delegates are encouraged to embrace and embody this formality in their language, demeanor, and overall conduct. This formality not only enhances the professional atmosphere of the conference but also contributes to the authenticity of the simulation, mirroring the practices of real-world diplomatic interactions.

3. Respect for Procedure and Integrity

Attendees should adhere to the procedures and protocols of committee sessions. The authority of the Chair is to be recognized by all delegates. Speaking order must be observed and respected, and rules of debate should be followed at all times. The smooth functioning of the conference relies heavily on the procedural framework established and ensures equal opportunity to contribute to discussions for all delegates present. Following the procedures of our MUN program is not merely a standard requirement; it is a commitment to the integrity of the simulation. Delegates play a crucial role in upholding the credibility of the conference, and their adherence to diplomatic norms and formalities contributes significantly to the overall success of the event.

4. Smoking

In accordance with campus rules, smoking is prohibited outside of designated outdoor smoking areas.
