1. Competition Theme
Inspired by the famous graffiti from the Parisian streets during the 1968 student protests, this photography competition seeks to emphasize the importance of streets as dynamic spaces where significant urban and societal interactions occur. The theme reflects the idea that resistance and urban life have their own aesthetics, highlighting the role of streets in fostering participation and public engagement. The competition encourages capturing scenes that showcase the vibrant and dramatic relationship between urban spaces and their inhabitants.
- The competition aims to capture scenes and urban situations that illustrate the dynamic relationship and importance of streets as active, vibrant spaces that reflect the life of a city.
- Photographs should focus on the contrasts and everyday urban situations.
- Photographs should depict scenes where the street becomes alive and dynamic, highlighting the drama of urban life.
- Photographs may include urban spatial-scenographic interventions, with or without people, showing physical/material interventions and contrasts in the city.
2. Submission Guidelines, Terms, and Conditions
Applicants may submit one photograph in each category (a total of two photographs):
- Category 1: Photography with no presence of people in the city.
- Category 2: Photography with the presence of people in the city.
Submission Instructions:
- Send photographs to:

- Include in the same email a biography of the author (max 300 words) in English, in Word (.doc) format, and a signed copyright statement for each photograph by all authors (if applicable), with a template available on the City Street 6 Conference website.
- Title files as: Photo competition_beauty is on the streets_name_surname.
- Photographs must be high quality (at least 300 dpi).
- Provide a title and a short explanation of the story/context (max 100 words).
- Photographs must be taken within the last ten years (2014-2024).
- Photographs can be in any format, orientation, black and white, or color.
- Photographs can be taken in any city, country, state, or area.
3. Eligibility
Open to all photographers—professionals, amateurs, and anyone interested in photography, including those who have captured city street scenes by chance.
4. Prizes
- First prize: 1000 EUR
- Second prize: 500 EUR
- Third prize: 300 EUR
- Special mention: 200 EUR
5. Jury
- The jury comprises renowned professionals in architecture, urbanism, visual arts, and photography.
- The organizers reserve the right to replace or add jury members at any time.
- Photographs will be assessed based on their engagement with the competition theme, aesthetics, storytelling, and their architectural, artistic, and societal significance.
- Selected photographs will be exhibited as part of the conference program from 25-28.09.2024 in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.

6. Important Dates
- Opening date of the Photo Competition: July 22, 2024.
- Deadline for submission of photographs: August 26, 2024.
- Selection for the exhibition: September 9, 2024.
- Opening of the exhibition and final jury announcement of the awards: September 25, 2024.
7. Originality and Copyright
- The author guarantees ownership of the submitted photograph.
- The author ensures the photograph does not infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights.
- The organizers deny responsibility for legal issues related to the photograph’s content.
- The organizers will not sell photographs without prior agreement with the author.
- The author agrees to the use of their photograph for press releases and on the conference website.
- The organizers reserve the right to choose photographs for 2024 exhibitions, including selecting the format and venue.
8. Claims and Final Dispositions
- Participation implies full agreement with the conditions and guidelines.
- The competition cannot be held responsible for changes in exhibition dates/venues or modifications/cancellations due to constraints beyond its control.
- The competition assumes no responsibility for incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete information caused by website users or related equipment/programming.
