The minor in Music provides students with an in-depth exploration of the cultural and historical contexts of music. This program is designed to cultivate a nuanced understanding of diverse musical traditions and their impact on societies. Through comprehensive coursework covering music fundamentals—including notation, history, theory, analysis, and performance—students enhance their critical thinking skills and gain the ability to contextualize musical works effectively.

Program Details

The NDU minor in Music and Musicology comprises 15 credits. Candidates can be amateur musicians actively practicing a musical instrument. Additionally, students maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0 are eligible to enroll in this minor. They may also apply up to 6 credits from the Jazz Music minor requirements toward this degree while pursuing another major.
