“Give and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38)
May 3, 2019 – To commemorate Labor Day 2019, the Campus Ministry and Pastoral Community at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) organized the annual Labor Day Lunch for the Global Co. foreign janitors subcontracted to work at NDU, in the Study Room-Dorms, Block A.
Attending the event were University Chaplain, Fr. Antonio Feghali, Administrative Assistant to the University Chaplain General, Dr. Sola El Helou along with fifteen members of the Pastoral Community all providing a helping hand in organizing the event.
In his speech, Fr. Feghali said: "I speak for myself and on behalf of all the reverend fathers in the administration when I say thank you to each and every one of you, we truly appreciate all the effort you put into caring for this community, and into keeping our Campus clean. Because you are far away from home, we wanted to show you our love by celebrating Labor Day together and by thanking you for all your hard work throughout the year."
To celebrate the hours of foreign workers’ service, the members of the Pastoral Community instead served them. A variety of meals, ranging from Indian to Lebanese traditional Foods, were presented, followed by dessert, and a large cake, a series of games, and music played throughout the event. At the end of the evening all attendees received a gift bag from ARUBA: a leading brand of instant powder drinks, food and drinks company.
Labor Day is a gathering looked forward to by workers and community members alike, due to the joy and closeness it brings, reinforcing NDU’s community as one big family.
