The Food Safety and Quality Management Program at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), in collaboration with MEFOSA and the Lebanese Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (LAFST), organized a seminar titled, “Food Safety in Hospitals: Application and Technologies.”
The training was organized by Manal Makki, MEFOSA services and ingredients manager, in collaboration with Dr. Layal Karam, assistant professor in the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FNHS) at NDU. It was presented by Engineer Diana Kassar, MEFOSA tendering department manager, who holds an M.S in Food and Health Engineering from UniLaSalle, France.
The session tackled how to maintain food safety and integrity of food in the hospital kitchen and hospital floors. The training hosted students, hospital dietitians, and food scientists from different universities and hospitals across Lebanon who shared their expertise in the field and discussed several case studies. A demonstration session on how to use technologies for the assessment and testing of food safety and quality in hospital kitchens was also presented by Dima Sakka, MEFOSA trading department manager.
