"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51)
On the eve of the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Pastoral Work at NDU celebrated on June 15, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., in the Administration Yard, Holy Mass in the presence of NDU staff and a congregation of the faithful.
His Excellency Apostolic Exarch Abbot Fadi Bou Chebl celebrated the Mass, which was concelebrated by University Chaplain General Fr. George Nassif, Fr. Antoine Estephan (OLM), Fr. Youssef Nasr (rector of St. Sauveur School, Sehaile), and Deacon Alfred Oueiss. Pastoral Work students served the Mass, and the Maronite Mariamite Order novices voiced the choir conducted by Fr. Khalil Rahme.
During his homily, Apostolic Exarch Bou Chebl reminded the participants of the importance of seeking God's calling for us. He invited everyone to pray for the success of the Synod, saying, “Don't hesitate to accept God's grace in your life and work to build families with strong bonds.” The Exarch also asked the Holy Spirit to bless the newly-appointed Council of the Maronite Mariamite Order. He added, “May God and the Virgin Mary bless the Campus Ministry and Pastoral Work at NDU, and may He enlighten their paths."
Afterward, the congregation gathered for the Eucharistic procession of Corpus Christi.
The general consensus among believers can be summarized in the following words, “Corpus Christi Mass and Eucharistic procession on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi is one of the celebrations that brings you closer to God in every way, because this Feast is at the core of our beliefs and an undeniable proof of God's presence among us.”
