Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) received a certificate of appreciation from the L’Ecoute Association, to commemorate the support that NDU provided the Association over the course of 2018, which enabled them to further their project: “Together for the Recycling of Human Energy.”
L’Ecoute Association is an NGO which works hand in hand with and for disabled people (deaf, blind, or with reduced mobility), and sick people, providing them with the necessary services and opportunities for them to live fulfilled lives. L’Ecoute Recycling was created as a branch of the organization, with purpose of financing its projects while addressing a crucial need: engaging in sustainable development. To that end, L’Ecoute Recycling collects household and industrial waste, sorts it, and routes it to recycling centers.
NDU itself maintains a strong commitment to sustainability. In collaboration with specialized NDU faculty members and eco-consultants, all on- and off-campus sustainable development, CSR, and green awareness campaigns as well as conferences and student projects are aimed at encouraging faculty members, staff, students, and NDU stakeholders to become even more environmentally responsible NDU formed a specialized Recycling Committee to deal with Waste Management, and the University administration tasked this committee with the responsibility of developing a strategy that would soon result in zero waste
NDU’s emphasis on sustainability and recycling provided L’Ecoute with the sorted solid waste, which enabled the Association to secure two oxygen machines for home use.
