Department of Media Studies (DMS) students at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) took part in an Edventure Partners-supervised global competition sponsored by Facebook (FB) and the U.S. State Department in the context of the Peer2Peer (P2P) project, aiming to fight extremism. In addition to the four finalist teams that will be traveling to Washington D.C., Facebook recognized other honorable mention campaigns.
Judges selected NDU’s “Box Out” Extremism as well as winners from other universities to receive a US$500 prize as well as an additional US$750 ad credit to continue their work beyond the Fall 2017 P2P campaign.
The stakes were high, but the NDU students were well prepared, and in the end, they delivered a campaign worthy of recognition. Most important, they believed in their campaign message (“Break Down Fear and Build Up Tolerance”) to help raise awareness and promote diversity in Lebanon.
