NDU SHOUF CAMPUS HOSTS TALK ON MENTAL HEALTH

March 14, 2019 – The Dear Sally Journal Club at Notre Dame University-Loauzie’s (NDU) Shouf Campus, collaborated with Zeina El-Jordi from the NGO, Embrace, to present a seminar highlighting the importance of mental health. The seminar shed light on what being mentally healthy means, and raised awareness about mental illness for the audience, highlighting the fact that it is more than “just in your head.”

El-Jordi shocked the attendees as she presented facts about the number of annual suicide attempts and deaths in Lebanon. She also spread the word on Embrace’s Suicide Hotline – 1564 – providing details on how the hotline works, how interested people can help the hotline become available 24/7, how people can volunteer and take part training to help those in need of mental health help and treatment.

The seminar concluded with an open discussion where El-Jordi was more than happy to answer any questions that they had for her.
