The Department of Athletics, a department under the University Office of Student Affairs (SAO) at NDU, participated in the Belgrade Sport Tournament 2018 (BEST) in Serbia, which was held between May 24 and May 26, 2018. The 42-member NDU delegation included players, coaches, administrators, and a physiotherapist.
NDU sports teams achieved impressive results in the following categories: Swimming (Men), Swimming (Women), Tennis (Men), Tennis (Women), Table Tennis (Men), Futsal (Men), and Basketball (Men).
Results were as follows:
Table Tennis (Men):
Mark Karam and Ralph Hamdar reached the final and won 1st place and 2nd place respectively; and Anthony Arida reached the quarterfinal.
Tennis (Men):
Michel Saadeh reached the final and won 2nd place; and Wael Stephan reached the quarterfinal.
Tennis (Women):
Jennifer Khawaja reached the semi-final; and Angela Batabetian and Emmanuelle Aftimos lost in the first round.
Futsal (Men):
The NDU Futsal Team won two games and lost two games, reaching the quarterfinals.
Basketball (Men):
The NDU Basketball Team won two games and lost two games, reaching the quarterfinals.
Swimming (Men):
Elie Khoury: 50-meter freestyle (6th place); 50-meter breaststroke (5th place); and George Zayoun: 50-meter freestyle (4th place); 50-meter butterfly stroke (5th place).
Swimming (Women):
Michelle Ghanimeh: 50-meter freestyle (4th place); 50-meter breaststroke (4th place).
