Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) Model United Nations (MUN) students attended the 3rd edition of the Beirut International Model United Nations conference titled, “BEYMUN,” to gain a unique cultural and educational experience.
The BEYMUN is a student-run annual gathering held at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Its goal is to introduce undergrads from around the world to the internal workings of the United Nations.
This conference revolved around the theme, “Paving Unity, Pioneering Acceptance,” which is meant to inspire up-coming generations to espouse open-mindedness—an essential trait needed to address current global issues.
For some time now, the BEYMUN has been addressing prevailing topics where students engage in high-level intellectual debates in their respective committees, in order to find practical solutions to modern-day challenges.
This year, NDU-MUN students won different awards:
- “Best Delegate Award:” Stephanie Maroun;
- “Best Position Paper:” Tia Wakim; and
- “Honorable Mentions:” Boutros Karam, Elsie Nakhle, and Christina Said.
Participation in the 2018 MUN edition gave students the opportunity to sharpen their debate skills as well as to acquire knowledge that would serve in helping them in their respective future careers. The conference also enhanced their abilities to come up with practical solutions to contemporary issues.
We are proud of their achievements, and we a proud of all NDUers who continue to demonstrate brilliance and dedication.
