In the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai, Notre Dame University-Louaize North Lebanon Campus (NDU-NLC) in Barsa recently launched its new buildings. In attendance at the ceremony were former Lebanese President Amine Gemayel, religious and military figures, and a host of North Lebanon dignitaries.
Vice-President for Public Affairs and Communications at NDU Suheil Matar delivered the welcome note in which he said, “This University mirrors the aspirations and dreams of our youth, and we must achieve those dreams.”
For his part, NLC Director Fr. Samir Ghssoub said, “Inspired by His Beatitude’s motto, Unity and Love, we established the identity and mission of our University, and we have worked hard to uphold that identity and to sow love.”
NDU President Fr. Walid Moussa appealed to the minister of education, who was represented by the Director General of Education Fady Yarak, to encourage the parliament to review the law related to Quality Assurance, which has been set aside for some time. “We pray that this law will be enacted during your tenure to help us all achieve a long-awaited dream. We firmly believe that culture is the basis for building the nation,” Fr. Moussa said.
Abbot Boutros Tarabay discussed how the NLC began during the war, and how it continues to grow.
Yarak praised the University path and the faith of the patriarch in supporting the youth of Lebanon. He thanked the patriarch for giving Lebanese youth a University where they could use their creative energy for the betterment of the nation.
His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai stated that NDU prepares the young generation to be future leaders who can exercise reason upon knowledge and shape a world of truth, justice, love, and freedom.
Finally, His Beatitude blessed the new buildings.
