NUTRITION FAIR 2018 AT SC

The annual Nutrition Fair 2018 took place on May 3. 2018, in the Conference Room, at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU-SC). Like every semester, the NTR 201/210 students at the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FNHS) organized the Fair, under the supervision of Dr. Lara Youssef and Rita Helou, to help increase health awareness among NDU community members.

Students gave presentations on a number of pertinent health topics, such as the

  • uses of red cabbage, PH indicator, and benefits;
  • risk of date fruits in affecting ideal body weight;
  • benefits and nutritional profile of lemons;
  • health risks of red beans;
  • uses and nutritional profile of coconut oil;
  • pros and cons of maca;
  • drug interactions caused by eating grapefruit; and
  • commonly grown species of agave syrup and their glycemic index value.

Topic posters prepared by the students were evaluated based on the overall look, content, uniqueness, as well as a social vote.

The Nutrition Fair was followed by the project presentation of graduate nutrition NTR 580 student Noura Subuh, regarding nutritional misconceptions.

The event grew even more tasteful as students offered alongside the nutritional information healthy foods and beverages in a friendly atmosphere.
