The Food Safety and Quality Management Program at NDU, in collaboration with the USAID-funded Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) project and the Syndicate of Lebanese Food Industries (SLFI), organized a seminar titled, “Road-Map to Food Product Development.”
Dr. Fadi Aramouni, professor at the Food Science Institute in Kansas State University in the U.S, presented the workshop. Dr. Aramouni has a well-established career in product development coupled with an extensive educational and research background.
Representatives of agro food companies, University students, faculty, and consultants attended the workshop, which was aimed to serve as a guide on the product development process, food trends in the U.S. market, shelf life testing, labeling health claims, and sensory evaluation methods.
Dr. Fadi Aramouni said, “With few exceptions, food product development is an essential function for any successful food processing and marketing enterprise. It is the only way to stay abreast with consumer demand and market trends.”
