Within the scope of the Sustainable Wastewater Treatment for Hospitals (SWaTH) project, Dr. Najib Metni, Associate Professor and Chairperson for the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (FE), and Mrs. Claudette Hajj, Laboratory Instructor at FE, joined the celebration of Erasmus Days 2021 at University of Balamand (UoB) on October 14th, 2021.
This celebration was held for the first time in Lebanon following the inception of Erasmus Days Celebration in 2017. On this occasion, Dr. Metni gave a presentation during the “concept session” that aimed to familiarize the audience with the different aspects of wastewater management and its economic impact.
The event, which comprised several activities such as lab tours and photo ops among others was concluded with a competition, and Ms. Hajj handed the prize to the winning team.
SWaTH is a 3-year capacity-building project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union by 999.744 Euros and brings together 11 organizations from France, Sweden, Finland, Spain, and Lebanon. NDU team members along with other project partners seek to evaluate the social and environmental impacts of wastewater treatment through life cycle analysis studies.
As a result, NDU team members and other Lebanese partners will help Lebanese stakeholders select the best wastewater treatment technology. NDU team members and at least 80 faculty members and 35 students from Lebanese universities will be trained in the framework of this project in EU universities.
