The Department of Music and Musicology (DMM) at the Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD), NDU, organized from February 15 to 21, 2017, the 3rd edition of its “Piano Competition.”
Before the competition, a piano workshop took place on Monday, February 13, 2017, in the department premises.
The jury comprised of concert pianist and Steinway artist Maestro Patrick Fayad; concert pianist, Master in Musicology, and full-time instructor at NDU Dolcy Lawoun; and concert pianist and piano teacher at the Lebanese Conservatory of Music Maestro Ammar Hashisho.
From the 16 piano students representing various secondary schools, 9 were selected to compete in the final round.
The prizes were distributed as follows:
First Position: Christian Chalhoub (Notre Dame de Louaize School) and Zaven Kabakian (Armenian Evangelical Secondary School, Anjar). Cash Prize: US$800 each; and
Second Position: Maneh-Ani Basmadjian, Melankton and Haig Arslanian Djemaran and Garo Krikorian
Melankton and Haig Arslanian Djemaran. Cash Prize: US$450 each.
