A curated show of students’ final projects took place at Notre Dame University-Louaize’s (NDU) Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts, and Design (FAAD). The End of Year Exhibition (EYE) took the theme, “Unmasking Identities,” to display a window into the creative feats of students in Architecture, Fashion, Graphic, and Interior Design, Photography, and Musicology at the Faculty’s Exhibition Hall. The special guest of the event was the CEO and Chairman of Erga Group, Mr. Elie Gebrayel, who was welcomed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Michel El Hayek, the FAAD Interim Dean, Dr. Karen Boujaoude, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support, Dr. Simon Abou Jaoude, in addition to various Vice Presidents, Faculty Deans, professors, staff, and students.
The NDU Music Club set the atmosphere of the evening as guests perused the portrayed compositions. The inspiration behind the projects was eclectic, but a few patterns emerged here and there, such the architecture and interior design pieces drawing from mid-century modern and late 20th-century trends with clean lines and curvature, rounded rooms and buildings, and contrasts between some stripped-back minimalism versus more colorful arrangements. Graphic design projects similarly showcased packaging concepts and brand personalities that coalesced into cohesive images, the students’ strengths not only lying in their artistic visions but also their world-building.
Models sauntered down the red carpet through the exhibition, wearing garments that focused on deconstructed fabrics, geometric silhouettes, and experimental uses of color and texture. The full fashion display had an evident aesthetic principle, reminiscent of a gallery, emphasizing fashion as an artistic endeavor at its core, not holding back on less conventional cuts or styles.
The EYE was tied together with additional musical performances and a diverse portrait of projects across disciplines, inviting the investigative eye to pore over each stroke of a line and stitched seam to unveil the young artists’ motives and motifs.
