The Pastoral Community and Campus Ministry at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) jointly organized on Friday February 9, 2018, a visit to the elderly home, Foyer de Vieillard Notre Dame Des Douleurs in Ghodras, on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
University Chaplain General Fr. Albert Assaf celebrated Mass voiced by the Pastoral Community choir. Pastoral Community members assisted the elderly attending the service and helped them receive Holy Communion. Following Mass, the elderly were divided into three groups and escorted to their rooms where Pastoral Community members made every effort to make them feel comfortable and happy by playing music and by involving the men in various card games and pampering the women with a nail polish session.
One of the elderly ladies was so thrilled that she said: “I wish everyday was St. Maron’s Day!”. Even the Pastoral Community members were extremely touched by this visit to the extent that some of them decided to become volunteers in this shelter home.
Later in the afternoon, lunch was served followed by a series of entertainment activities, involving singing and dancing. The day ended with beaming smiles all around.
