The World Health Organization (WHO) observes World Mental Health Day on October 10 every year.
To help mark the occasion at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), the Department of Psychology, Education and Physical Education and the NDU Libraries invited Embrace to discuss mental health issues among university students in Lebanon. Embrace is a non-profit organization (NGO), which works to raise awareness around mental health in Lebanon and the Middle East.
Students at NDU were invited to direct their questions about mental health to three speakers, two of whom were individuals sharing their personal experience with mental health issues (i.e. anxiety, depression, suicide, etc.).
The activity provided NDU students with the opportunity to become better acquainted with mental health illnesses.
Students can directly contact the Office of Students Affairs (SAO) at NDU for on-campus counseling services, which have been made readily available to help support their individual cases.
