CHEMICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT REBECCA WAKIM SELECTED FOR REPUTABLE GLOBAL UGRAD PROGRAM

Rebecca Wakim, Chemical Engineering student at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) and President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) NDU Student Chapter, was one of four students in Lebanon selected to be part of the prestigious Global Undergraduate Program (Global UGRAD).

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and in collaboration with World Learning, an organization that strives to give young community leaders the opportunity to learn from an enriching cultural exchange, 350 students are chosen from all around the world to undergo leadership seminars and community service activities, while simultaneously studying and improving in their given fields.

In this framework, Rebecca spent the Spring 2022 semester at Tennessee Technological University for full-time study, in addition to community service and professional development. She was also fortunate to share that time with other Global UGRAD participants, engaging with a culturally diverse roster and reaping the fruits of the dialogue.

This is the second consecutive year in which a Chemical Engineering student is selected for Global UGRAD, reinforcing the NDU program’s stature despite its young age. Rebecca reports that her knowledge and competencies developed at NDU helped her to excel in the courses she was enrolled in during her stay at Tennessee Tech. Congratulations to Rebecca for her success and achievements!
