Work-Study Grant
The Work-Study Grant (WSG) provides financial assistance to undergraduate students based on demonstrated need. It is designed to assist full-time students with proven financial need in covering part of the cost of their education. Students who qualify as assistants are assigned to various departments or offices within the university. Placement is determined based on capability, need, and job availability. Students are required to set a schedule for their working hours, ensuring it does not conflict with their class schedule. The work schedule should be signed by the supervisor and approved by the Department of Financial Aid. Students may receive up to 60% coverage of their tuition fees through the WSG.
In addition to financial support, students eligible for a WSG have the opportunity to develop their working skills and gain a deeper sense of personal responsibility and accomplishment.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Work-Study Grant, students must:
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be enrolled in a regular undergraduate program (freshman students are not eligible).
- Be in good academic standing, as per university regulations.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credits each semester, except for the last semester before graduation when the number of credits may drop to nine (9).
Conditions
Students who have been granted a WSG will be covered for a full academic year, excluding the summer session. However, the grant may be revoked in the following cases:
- Not achieving the cumulative GPA required to maintain good academic standing.
- Registering for fewer than 12 credits per semester, or fewer than 9 credits during the final semester at NDU.
- Failing to fulfill the job requirements assigned by the Department of Financial Aid.
- Not abiding by the rules and regulations of the assignment.
- Providing false information in the application.
Procedures
Undergraduate students who wish to apply for the WSG can access the Financial Aid section on SIS, click on the WSG application/renewal, and complete the online application in the presence of one of their parents, ensuring all required documents are secured. It is essential to complete all sections of the application. An appointment for an interview with the Department of Financial Aid must be scheduled online, considering that the interview may last up to 45 minutes. Students must personally attend the interview, submitting the printed application signed by one of their parents, along with all the required documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Dates and deadlines for obtaining and submitting WSG applications are updated and posted on the NDU website and included in the academic year calendar. All WSG applications must be submitted one semester in advance (e.g., for a Fall semester WSG, the application must be submitted during the previous Spring semester). WSG applications must be renewed for each academic year by filling out an online Renewal Form before the official deadline.
Students applying for the WSG may receive a home visit from representatives of the Department of Financial Aid. After completing the necessary procedures, the Financial Aid Committee will carefully review each application and make appropriate decisions.
For more information about the WSG, please visit the Department of Financial Aid, send an email to
financialaid@ndu.edu.lb, or call 09 208 000 ext. 2051/2052/2053/2182/2199.
Student Employment
Full-time students who possess special skills that are not found among WSG students may be employed for academic reasons for one semester upon the request of Faculty Deans. The Financial Aid Committee will determine the working hours and hourly rate.
Grants
GRANT FOR EXCELLENCE: SPORTS GRANT
When eligible, students who join a sports team at NDU will benefit from a 10% Sports Grant. An additional 5% is granted to teams that win a tournament or championship. NDU athletes, members of first-division sports teams, or members of national teams will be granted 20% tuition coverage. The Sports Grant can be combined with other types of financial aid or scholarships.
Elite players can also join NDU through the Sports Scouting Scholarship and receive a 50% scholarship on their tuition.
SIBLING GRANT
NDU provides a family discount when two or more siblings are enrolled simultaneously. Students can benefit from the Sibling Grant starting from their first semester.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Sibling Grant, students must:
- Be enrolled as full-time students with a minimum of 12 credits, except for the last semester before graduation when the number of credits may drop to nine (9).
- Be in good academic standing as per university regulations.
- Be enrolled in a regular undergraduate program.
If one of the siblings does not meet the above criteria, the other(s) may still benefit if their sibling is enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) credits for undergraduate students or six (6) credits for graduate students.
Conditions
1. If eligible, two siblings simultaneously enrolled at the university will each receive a 15% discount. Three or more siblings will each be entitled to a 25% discount. (Students enrolled in the English Intensive Course will receive a 10% discount, provided they are enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.)
2. In cases of financial need, eligible siblings can apply to the Work-Study Grant (WSG) during the scheduled dates in the academic calendar to increase their discount percentage, up to a maximum of 40% or 70%.
3. Sibling Grant recipients who receive a 20% scholarship will benefit from a 15% Sibling Grant. Those with a 40% scholarship will receive a 10% Sibling Grant. Recipients of a 60% scholarship will no longer be eligible for the Sibling Grant.
Procedure
To apply for the Sibling Grant, students must:
- Access the Financial Aid section on SIS, click on the Sibling Grant, and add the ID number of their sibling.
- Submit a copy of the Family Status Record (not older than one year) to the Department of Financial Aid. The deadline to submit the Family Status Record is the fifth working day after the online application date.
Dates and deadlines for the Sibling Grant are posted on the website and included in the academic calendar.
Siblings will continue to benefit from the discount as long as they remain eligible. They do not need to renew their application unless a new sibling is enrolled for the first time with them.
