Welcome to the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), a large, vibrant community at our Institution. The FNAS team comprises 36 dedicated full-time faculty members who are deeply committed to teaching, research, and service. Within its dynamic and thriving academic community, the Faculty provides an exceptional and intellectually stimulating environment, tailored for the exploration and the study of the sciences and their diverse applications.
At the undergraduate level, the FNAS offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Mathematics (90 credits), Actuarial Sciences (94 credits), Computer Science (94 credits), Business Computing (94 credits), Information Technology (94 credits), Computer Graphics Animation (94 credits), Management Information Systems (94 credits), Geographic Information Systems (91 credits), Physics (95 credits), Biochemistry (92 credits), Biology (92 credits), Chemistry (92 credits), and Environmental Sciences (92 credits). In addition, students can benefit from minors in Mathematics (15 credits), Actuarial Sciences (18 credits), Biology (17 credits), and Physics (15 credits). Since 2016, the BS in Computer Science has been fully accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission (CAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. The Faculty also offers a freshman sciences program, the equivalent of the official Lebanese Baccalaureate Part II, scientific option.
For those seeking graduate studies, the FNAS offers Master of Science (MS) degrees in Mathematics (33 credits), Actuarial Sciences (30 credits), Financial Mathematics (30 credits), Computer Science (30 credits), Financial Mathematics (33 credits), Astrophysics (36 credits), Biology (36 credits), and Industrial Chemistry (36 credits). The MS in Actuarial Sciences is in partnership with Chedid Re, a leading company recognized as one of the Top 20 Reinsurance Brokers in the world and an official Lloyds Broker. The MS in Astrophysics is a joint degree in partnership with the Faculty of Sciences at Saint Joseph University (USJ).
Qualified full-time faculty members, along with an excellent team of part-time instructors, oversee, conduct, and regularly assess these undergraduate and graduate programs.
The Sciences Tutoring Center, staffed by skilled graduate fellows, delivers personalized instruction and valuable guidance to NDU students seeking extra assistance in their courses. Furthermore, the FNAS provides a diverse range of meticulously designed service courses to dispense high-quality science education to students from disciplines such as Engineering, Business, and Architecture.
Research is an integral dimension of faculty members’ endeavors, as reflected by the ever-increasing publication count in esteemed international journals. Apart from their active involvement in advising students, participating in committees, engaging with the community, and constantly enhancing courses and curricula, our faculty members are committed experts specialized in a wide range of areas. They also organize and participate in seminars, workshops, national and international pedagogical and scientific conferences, in addition to serving on editorial research boards. Furthermore, numerous FNAS faculty members are recipients of scholarships and grants for their research proposals.
Our alumni's remarkable achievements stand as a testament to the excellence fostered within the FNAS. Some have secured prominent positions in colleges, universities, businesses, and industries all over the world, while others have been accepted and enrolled in Ph.D. programs in reputable universities in USA, Canada, and Europe.
