Guide to science courses required by students applying to medical school

Minimal course credits commonly considered by medical programs:

Chemistry with Laboratory
11 (8 of which are organic chemistry)
CHM 211 (3 cr.), CHM 221 (3 cr.), CHM 222 (3 cr.), and CHM 272 (2 cr.).
Physics with Laboratory
8 Two from: PHS 208 (3 cr.), PHS 209 (3 cr.), PHS 206 (3 cr.).
Two from: PHS 278 (1 cr.), PHS 279 (1 cr.), PHS 275 (1 cr.).
English Communication 6 LAC  IA
ENL 213 (3 cr.) and ENL 230 (3 cr.) or ENL 223 (3 cr.)
Social Sciences 6 LAC VB
SOL 201 (3 cr.) and PSL 201 (3 cr.)

 

Remarks:

All credits and courses listed in the table above are taken by Biology students. The suggested premedical curriculum for undergraduate students majoring in Biology should adhere to the same suggested Biology program.

All credits and courses listed in the table above are taken by Biochemistry students, with the exception of BIO 212. The suggested premedical curriculum for undergraduate students majoring in Biochemistry should align with the same Biochemistry program. The recommended BIO elective course is BIO 212.

For non-Biology and non-Biochemistry premedical students, it is strongly recommended to include the following courses in addition to the courses listed above: BIO 220 and CHM 215.
