Office of Business Strategy and Advancement

The Office of Business Strategy and Advancement (OBSA) is responsible for the strategic growth and development of the University. It identifies mission-aligned opportunities and builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to encourage innovation and investment. Additionally, OBSA fosters strong ties with NDU alumni and oversees a range of essential services aimed at promoting greater awareness of the University’s mission and providing support for its students.

The Office includes four Departments:

  • Department of Resource Development, Fundraising and Donor Engagement
  • Department of Corporate and Partnership Relationships
  • Department of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
  • Department of Alumni Affairs

OBSA collaborates closely with the NDU Board of Trustees Advancement Committee, the NDU Alumni Association, the American Friends of NDU, the Friends of NDU Foundation - Canada, and other key stakeholders.

The primary mission of OBSA is to create, nurture, and strengthen connections with direct stakeholders by providing platforms, initiatives, and engagement opportunities within the University and beyond.

Department of Resource Development, Fundraising and Donor Engagement

This Department’s primary mission is to raise funds to support financially challenged students and enhance the University’s resources. These funds are crucial for maintaining student well-being, financial aid, scholarships, and academic standards. The Department establishes relationships with prospective donors, both locally and internationally, and manages solicitations.

The Department handles donations by processing them in accordance with financial compliance standards and University policies, generating the necessary forms to track and allocate funds as per donors’ intent. Additionally, it works on strengthening relationships with donors through stewardship, ensuring their long-term commitment and recognizing their contributions in collaboration with the Office of Communications.

Department of Alumni Affairs

The Department of Alumni Affairs serves as a central hub for alumni networking, fostering professional and social connections, and guiding alumni to relevant University offices and faculties. It organizes alumni programs, initiatives, and activities, such as engagement events, class reunions, Alumni Day, campus tours, and the Alumni Spotlight e-newsletter.

The Department’s objectives are to:

  • Address alumni needs, as they are lifelong members of the NDU community;
  • Communicate alumni views, needs, and interests to the University administration;
  • Foster lasting relationships between alumni and the University;
  • Maintain an information management system that benefits alumni and their alma mater; and
  • Coordinate activities, programs, and events with the NDU Alumni Association.

Department of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics

This Department plays a critical role in supporting the University’s strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. By gathering and analyzing data from various sources (e.g., student demographics, financial data, course registrations), the Department enhances student success initiatives, improves retention rates, and provides insights for academic performance, enrollment trends, program development, and targeted marketing efforts. It stays current with industry trends, serving as a valuable resource for the University’s mission.

Department of Corporate and Partnership Relationships

This Department acts as a catalyst for University growth and success by securing resources, fostering collaboration, and building strong external relationships. Its responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential partners and corporations aligned with the University’s mission;
  • Cultivating relationships with key decision-makers;
  • Creating proposals that highlight how the University’s expertise can meet partner needs;
  • Collaborating with faculty, staff, and industry professionals on research projects and student opportunities;
  • Increasing visibility to attract potential donors and research funding; and
  • Engaging industry professionals, including alumni and business leaders.
